We have been crazy busy packing and prepping your orders to ensure that all packages paid for are shipped before our trip. Yes, we are going for a short holiday with the kids, and whilst we will be online, we will not be in Singapore. So orders will not be processed till we return.

Some sneak peeks on our #behindthescenes as we prep your orders… We have fallen in love with washi tape (ok, more like renewed our undying love for it) and have restocked on more pretties. We have also got some totally awesome twine that works prettily with Sparkle Thots (you know, our love for pink!). You’d start seeing them as they have already been shipped out.

So, here’s us signing off till the 9th. We are taking a couple of extra days off to pack and prep for the trip. So we do thank you for understanding.

** The shop‘s still open. All orders will be processed on a first in, first out basis. Shipping is expected to resume on 12th June. Thank you once again for your patience.

The Singapore Botanic Gardens is situated just minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the city. An oasis in the commercialised, built up island, the pop of greenery and serenity is both surprising and refreshing. Walking through the carefully maintained pathways, it takes some time to reconcile that the peaceful surroundings is just a stone throw away from shopping district Orchard Road.

2 Sundays ago, we took a walk in the park.I’d like to think the kids enjoyed the change in landscape as much as I did. It helped that Jayden was given a chance to tinker with the Golden Half. And I’m rather pleased with the first images from that row. We will go back again I’m sure. There’s just so much ground we managed to cover. I’d like to drop by the Children’s Garden too!

But in the meantime, enjoy the wonderful range of flora and fauna that have been captured by others at the Gardens. Happy Monday!

For those of you who didn’t get the tweet or read the store announcement, I’m out of town right now. So hmm, this post is somewhat of a misnomer. In any case, we’d be back this Saturday and have your orders processed and ready to ship on 22nd Nov.

Orders made during our out-of-town period will ship with a little extra something. Rest assured, barring any major screw up by the postal agencies (in which we are all dead), your packages will still arrive in time to be stowed under the Christmas tree.

And a shout out to join our mailing list if you haven’t already done so because we have something special planned in the lead up to Christmas. Our most favourite time of the year!

So… what are you waiting for? Shop away. :D

Sparkle Thots Jewellery :: Bluebells (Bracelet)

Bluebells ~ A Lil Something Blue

It is insane but I finally had the time to list the above bracelet in store. You first caught a glimpse of it a couple of weeks back when I did a floral Monday feature on all blue flowers. Obviously the infatuation with the blue flowers has not left. The whole idea of Bluebells came to mind when I did the product listing and naming. And so.., another floral Monday dedicated to blue.

Spanish Bluebell

~~"O, that lone flower recalled to me - My happy childhood's hours - When bluebells seemed like fairy gifts - A prize among the flowers"~~

Bluebells (Hyacinthoides non-scripta)

I’d admit that living so near the equator, I have not the faintest clue of how the flower actually looks like. Of course I have a romanticised notion of what they ought to be from all the books I’ve read, but seen one, never. I must say, the real flower fits perfectly. A drooping, shy little flower, full of grace and meekness.

Pretty. Especially when you stumble upon fields of them. Move over fields of gold!

Aren’t they perfectly dreamy? I’d love to idle in such a beautiful field all weekend long. Without a care in the world. Maybe, someday. But for the now, happy Monday. It is the start of a new school term over here in sunny Singapore. The last quarter of 2010! Time… does indeed, fly.

Dashing out of here in a jiffy. No, not going on a holiday (I wish!) but off for a lunch and dinner date. YAY! Most orders are packed and ready to ship. Just a couple more that will go out on Monday as the payment just cleared.

A simple idea, make something personal for someone who’s travelling. Adapt accordingly to where your receipient is travelling to or… even to suit a different occasion. You can even do up a couple for out of town wedding guests in place of a welcome basket.

We’d be away from 25th Oct to 2nd Nov. All orders placed during this period will ship 3rd Nov onwards. Have fun shopping whilst we’re taking a break and dreaming up new ideas! We may or may not have access to a computer / internet so do pardon us if we do not answer your emails promptly during that period.

However if you want to get your items soon, there is still time. Hurry and get your orders in by 24th Oct. Yes, us workaholics will pack and ship your items out right till our date of departure.

You’d pardon me… I had to sneak in one entry on my homeland. It is after all, where I spend most of my life. And where, a number of you readers, may not have travelled to. So let’s sum up the week with a visit to the little red dot.

One thing you must know … although we are often called ‘Sunny Singapore’, it does rain an awful lot. We are a small island so we build upwards to house everyone (people and offices). So we earned the term ‘concrete jungle’ too. And well, we do have our pockets of nature.

We have the iconic Merlion, a throwback to the fable of our founding. We are quite the mismash, melting pot… so you got to come on over to discover us for who we are. No kidding.

Notice how it is almost all buildings? I didn’t manage to get a good selection of nature shots for this entry. Illness clouds my mind. Got to go sleep it off.

Sparrows’ Acts by Tearoom

Not quite a location, but today’s travel lust is to where the cherry blossoms are. All decked in pink, the blooms are an amazing sight to behold. I had the blessing to see them once… In Korea, 2005. We managed to catch the tailend of the cherry blossom season then and it was awesome. Pretty romantic too. Which was good. It was our honeymoon after all!

and well, since it isn’t cherry blossom season right now (far from it!), here’s some Sakura Jelly to tide you through till the next season.
