Midweek Wednesday already! Term 4 has started and while I’m glad to see J back in school, it kind of creeps me out that we are but 3 more months to the end of 2011. Already 2012 calendars have sprung up for sale both online and off, sending me into denial. But let’s not go there. The Promise Ring ~ To Have and To Hold

2 years ago, babyK was born. Today, she turns 2. She’s been quite the muse, and occasionally charming enough to model pieces whilst I finetune the designs. She used to sleep in her lil basket at my feet as I crafted in the workroom, calm and peaceful. A quiet companion to an afternoon of crafting. Today, she has moved beyond that. She talks endlessly, and resists naptime. She’s grown. 2 right now and many more years ahead.

I crafted The Promise Ring yesterday. It came out perfectly, exactly as I had envisioned. It reminded me of the Ribbons ring I had crafted when she was still a bun in the oven. It felt fitting that today, I do a special sale on this new ring.

Blushing Blue Loves ~ a dainty amazonite rose ring wrapped in silver

Interestingly enough, the last week has seen an interest in rings. Not that I’m complaining (I love rings!), just interesting to note. And since rings are custom-made for the buyer (or in some cases, special friend), they are made from scratch and not taken from a stockpile.

They require a whole lot more work than most other pieces but so much more rewarding to see them taking shape. So here’s a couple of highlights from this week. Some new shots of ‘old’ favourites.

Swirl ~ Laced Delight; a romantic concoction of carefully twirled wires

I seriously fell in love with this all over again. It sat on my worktable for a while before I could bear to pack it away. Intricate, dainty and just beautiful to look at. Yes, I’m biased but I do think you’d agree!

Ribbons ~ Don’t Forget

I don’t think this needs any introduction. What I must say though is that the lighting that day was beautiful. And the rosy hint of the rose gold wire was picked up wonderfully. A subtle hint of rosy pink, a lovely dose of femininity.

Valentine ~ Romance of a Lifetime

Yes, I know it is well into Thursday now (surely it’s still Wednesday somewhere?!) but I’d still go ahead with this entry. Things have been a little rough around here. BabyK fell ill over the weekend with some nasty viral fever that literally burned her up. Poor dear was so listless over Sunday and so HOT, that we carted her off to the A&E. She’s fine now. Having spent 3-4 days nursing the darn bug. Naturally she took up all my time and well, as life goes, work got pushed back.

Enough with the talk. What matters is she’s fine, no? And here’s a quick summary of what went on behind the scenes at Sparkle Thots.

Liz ~ Hollywood Glam

Restocked on some lovely pieces like Valentine up above, and added new items that have an old school, nostalgic kind of glamour to the shop. Liz is a really gorgeous piece. Great for understated elegant weddings where you want to bling it up but not be too over the top and end up like some Christmas tree. The clarity of the clear quartz is amazing and, well, you can’t go wrong with the colour combination.

Love ~ At first Sight II

One of our favourite rings got updated this week. We got our hands on a new yummy strand of luscious plump rose quartz rondelles. These are more curvy than the original and cost a pretty penny more. It’s the quality that blows you away. Clear with delicate hints of pink. Quite literally, love at first sight with this strand. And to complement it, we wired the new ones with rose gold wires. Wow. It helps to enhance the colour and has an even sweeter romantic feel.

Gatsby ~ The Great

The sparkle of these crystals caught my eye. I don’t quite know how to explain but they have an awesome shine. Lots of sparkle, yet not too much. I’m sure it has something to do with the faceting, the coating and well, it is Swarovski after all. These are great for blacktie formal events and even for weddings. Bling it up, with class.

Kairi ~ Clear Blue Seas

And lastly to round up the week’s new stuff, Kairi. It works perfectly for brides with a beach theme or a colour theme of blue. Great on a budget, and you can gift your bridesmaids something blue to remember your wedding by. It works just as great for a ‘no reason’ gift to self. Minimalistic, simple and almost timeless, it goes from work to play effortlessly.
