❤ by sophieg via creating sort of life

Ranunculus have large, gorgeous blooms and come in an assortment of colours. They are extremely popular at weddings, forming many a bridal bouquet. The tightness of each flower, packed together in bouquets just adds a lot of texture and colour to the special day. They are photographed mainly in pink, probably because they are the one of the most widely sort after colour for weddings but the other colours are just as beautiful.

There’s such a delicate beauty about them. Very feminine. Very romantic. Very appealing. Equally dreamy in the hand as on the window sill, won’t you treat yourself to some?

There’s something special and alluring about ballet. The grace, the music, the movement. Behind the gracefulness, is a whole life of discipline. A need to train, a need to exert both time and effort. A commitment to a different lifestyle.

Inspired? I’m so tempted to watch the Nutcracker right now!

I somehow assumed lilac as another name for one of those pantone shades of purple. I don’t know why it never occurred to me that it actually was a plant as well. So I’ve got to make it right, somehow. Starting with this week’s Floral Monday’s post dedicated to the sweet lilac plant.

Sparkle Thots Fun

Easier than you think! I first saw this idea on Ambrosia Girl (who adapted the idea from How About Orange) and thought these made a fun and easy craft. So whilst printing photos the other day, I threw together a collage of selected shots on polaroid frames and got to work.

A quick and easy job! If you want to involve the kids, swap the xacto knife for a pair of scissors. Or get them to select the images. I think these make lovely gifts for Christmas (amongst other occasions).

A befitting way to start a life together, always, be happy.

To all our international friends, have a great Tuesday. For our Singaporean friends, hope you’re enjoying the holiday. It’s time off with the family today. I’d check back in tomorrow. Hopefully, with new items (ie, I need decent photos!).

ps: postal run resumes tomorrow. The e-shop’s still open of course!

Old is the new new all over again. Really. Just when you think film is dead, it makes a comeback. I’ve dipped my toes into toy cameras and I love the results. The colours that you get back from the processed film? Gorgeous. Of course not having all the technical settings does help. There’s a new rawness to the images, some old school fun in the fast paced modern world. I’ve gone on to develop 3 rolls now. I’m really loving it. In fact, I’ve gotten another 3 rolls to go before my mini-stash runs out.

For this week’s Discover, may I suggest, vintage cameras? You may fall head over heels in love with them. Truly, they do not make things like they used to.

Hello, hope that your Easter weekend was spent with family. We certainly enjoyed the short break from the crazy work schedule around here. Regular programming again today but in honour of the season, Floral Mondays is featuring lilies.

… and we are back. It was a nice trip. Tiring but nice. I didn’t manage to finish all I had set out to do (work wise). I guess that I’d be burning the midnight oil these next couple of nights to finish up the Nesting necklaces. Speaking of which, my heart dropped when the breaking news showed the latest quakes and aftershocks. Sigh, #prayforjapan won’t you?

Enough of the rambling. Time for some beauties. This week’s focus is on Sweet Peas. They are typically ‘filler’ flowers but really, they are pretty on their own.

Glory of Spring

Living so near the equator, we don’t experience the four seasons. It is more a subtle difference of hot, hotter, hottest with rains thrown in at assorted timings. These couple of days have been exceedingly hot and humid. It seemed as if we were experiencing our own version of changing seasons. Spring is happening right now. And these fresh blooms just made me want to cheer. A new beginning then for a new week!

“We've known each other by CHANCE, became friends by CHOICE, still friends by DECISION. And when we say FRIEND FOREVER, that's definitely a lifetime PROMISE! “

With all the heartwrenching news updates coming after the mega earthquake in Japan, you can’t help but think of the country. I wanted today’s floral feature to be on the national flower of Japan, but apparently, they don’t have one. Not that it is the most important thing right now, but a bit of beauty never hurts.

The Sakura is often thought to be the national flower, as with the chrysanthemum. The royal family has stylistic images of the chrysanthemums and so, I’d go with that for today. And do remember to say a little prayer for Japan whilst you browse these images.

" When you ask God for a gift, be thankful if he sends, not diamonds, pearls, or riches, but the love of real true friends."
