Spring cleaning in progress…!

If you have been around for a bit, you’d have noticed that there have been subtle changes in Sparkle Thots. Over the past year, there has been a gradual shift towards the semiprecious stones and charm / momento series, and a lessening of the ‘odds and ends’.

I still have mountain loads of beads, findings and charms that I am destashing to make room for the new ‘direction’. I’d still keep a small collection that will from time to time be released.

Meantime, the big spring clean is on. Check out the destash shop! There’s an assortment of items that can be used for jewelry, crafts or even scrapbooking. It really is up to you. And, HEARTS are on sale. You can’t buy love, but hearts, you can!

Shoppity shop!

A lovely, yet simple idea, this printable cup wrappers help to add a touch of festivity and cheer to your Christmas parties. Print print away! Available from How About Orange.

The look for less. A pretty neat trick I must say. Talk about a creative use of puffy paint. Make your own faux porcelain vases from ordinary glass bottles. I’d love to see your end results for this one!

Fancy making these paper kimono dolls? They make good use of the scraps of washi paper you have from other projects! Or erhmm, practice with random scraps first. Have fun, they make great rainy day projects with the kids :)

I guess this would be a good time to bake something. After the delish looking cupcakes from earlier this week. How about trying your hand at a rainbow cake?

Spent copious amount of time at Daiso, the local (ok, more like imported from Japan) version of a dollar store where everything retails at $2. Lots of fun! I spent an insane amount of time at the kitchen section with bento boxes, sets and the like. So when I spotted this lunch bag tutorial on Lilac Silhouette, I just had to share.

Like she mentioned, it looks easy enough. Maybe I can motivate myself to do it … when the kids go to school? Tutorial is part of a freebie from Make Good Books.

Reduce, reuse, recycle and create something quite beautiful. Make giftbows from old magazines, maps or even old wrappers and be surprised by how beautiful they can look. And it helps to reduce waste too! Perfect to make in preparation for all those Christmas gifts… Heh.
