Perhaps it is the looming anniversary. I am even more sensitive to weddings (how on earth is this even possible?!), especially those done the handmade way. For my own, we did our own church invites, programme sheets, redpacket box, bridal car decor and bouquets, church decor and sign in sheets. Some look a little dated now but then, in a sense, it feels so long ago now. Hah.

Enjoy these though. All done with style for a very special day.

Here in Singapore, we celebrate Chinese New Year. And for parents’ who are busy entertaining restless kids that have just come home from school, here’s a fun lil origami craft. Courtesy of Yoke Bakery.

Shoppity Shop!

Last week I waxed lyrical on washi tapes. But it felt kind of empty to just share about what fun they are without showing what they can be used for. The product shots included some really lovely ideas but here are even more ideas to get your creativity up and running. And well, if you feel an insane urge to go out and buy all the washi tapes you can find, you can find the shop links here and join me in MT Anonymous.

Stitched on bunting. Makes lovely stationery!

Mint’s Business Cards. Simple, understated beauty.

Recycled envelopes stripped with washi tapes.

Seen all those awesome lettered decor around and wanted to do them but didn’t want to mess around with pots of paint? Washi tapes are a good alternative.

See what I mean? Application for MT Anonymous is now open.

❤

They say the taste test is the most important. True enough. But with food packaged these beautifully, you really can’t help but add brownie points for presentation. I’d like to say that the Japanese have honed the art of food presentation down to a T but these pretty pictures are proof that just about anyone can do them. Be inspired. Now, excuse me while I go find myself something to satisfy the cravings! These pictures have brought about a mighty big crave for anything sweet and everything pretty.

Don’t you love the little garland of hearts wrapping round the package? Following through from yesterday’s experiments in packaging, I went on a search around the world wide web and here are some nicely wrapped up packages. All using the humble brown paper product we call Kraft.

Please take time to click on the ❤ to discover new shops chocful of packaging or to read on of sellers with nifty design ideas to suit their product needs. Be inspired.

New Handmade Soap Packaging

Father’s Day is tomorrow. Have you got anything planned?

Nothing? Well, maybe you could fold a couple of napkins or (money) notes. Keep the kids occupied and spruce up the table a little. :D

Perfect timing. Lace dyed eggs for Easter.

I actually managed to watch the episode these eggs were featured in. I remember sitting there in amazement and thinking it would be wonderful if I could get them done. With the Easter season approaching, I googled for the how-to and was pleased to find it still archived on Martha Stewart.

However, it does seem like a ‘hit and run’ with this craft. There are quite a few negative comments about how the results are nothing like these while others have gotten the same amazing results. So, use with caution.

Instructions and image from Martha Stewart.

I, probably will have to keep the craft aside for another weekend. Jayden’s down with a fever. All weekend activities planned have been thrown out of the window. I hate the viral bug!

in this mix:-

  • gold vermeil headpins
  • 14K gold filled wires
  • faceted orange garnet rondelles
  • carved smooth smoky quartz lanterns

I really like how the colours came together in the picture on the carousel and I tried to translate the magic of the moment into this latest piece. I cannot draw and when Muse struck, I cajoled the small one for some time to work out a prototype.

A touch of elegance, a hint of mystery, a liberal dose of magic. I like how it is taking shape. I haven’t quite decided whether it be a bracelet or a necklace. Or what ‘sort’ of necklace. Decisions, decisions. Still, the process is truly lovely.

PIF — Pay It Forward

I got some queries as to what in the world was PIF. Well, if you remembered (good grief, 10 years ago?!), there was a movie back in 2000 titled Pay It Forward. A touching film with a stellar cast (ok, I love Helen Hunt and Haley Joel Osment), it immortalised and highlighted the multiplier effect, and showed how one small deed can change the world. Tasked to think of something to change the world and put it into action, a boy conjures the notion of paying a favour forward–repaying good deeds with new good deeds done to three new people.

In the ‘Etsy’ world, this is done via listing an item at just the cost of listing. Erhmm, USD 0.20. Plus shipping. It is all done in good faith. Because well, paying it forward is this simple.

So, have you found the PIFs yet? I promise to list more from time to time. :)

Not that Singapore has 4 distinct seasons to speak about but spring cleaning has finally struck home. Went completely bonkers preparing items for destash (oh the work! checking to make sure they are worthy of a new home, counting to repack them in ‘desirable’ quantities, costing, snapping pictures, listing… GAH) and decided to do a couple of Pay It Forward listings as well as reduce the items of some already listed ones. And these include jewellery too. (Boy aren’t you lucky?!)

Have fun ‘treasure hunting’. I really think they are worth so much more. But I plead insanity.

And erhmm, whilst things have not completely settled into a routine, I’m looking to get back into the swing of things with regular blog highlights all over again. Wish me luck won’t you? It wasn’t a new year’s resolution per se… but a real desire. I kind of miss sharing my favourite stuff from all over!
