Been a while I know. A full month in fact. Since we last ‘met’, we celebrated CNY, I started on yet another photo a day competition (the instagram one! pretty awesome stuff) and of course, we have been busy crafting new items. The shop has taken on a dreamy mood with pearls and Swarovski bling. Quite the impression I have of Sparkle Thots.

But besides that, we have gotten our hands busy too. The son is down with fever so we crafted. Paper roses, ruffled hearts. Very ‘Valentine’. And for those who are interested, hopefully the pictures help. Pretty simple. Just time-consuming. The perfect thing to keep the kids at bay. Hah.

** What you’d need :- any 6 petaled flower, craft white glue, floral tape (the sticky green ones), chopsticks or dowels

• Step 1 : Cut or punch out at least 3 flowers for each flower. (I used 5. Basically the more you use, the fuller the flower will be)
• Step 2 : Fold each flower in half (3 times) so that you get each petal nicely sectioned out
• Step 3 : Cut a split in 1, a petal out of another and 2 petals out of the last (for my 5 piece I did 2, 2 and 1). Keep the cut outs aside
• Step 4 : Glue the flowers together
• Step 5 : Notch the points off the smaller ‘blooms’. Nestle them, one in each other, glue in place
• Step 6 : Curl the petals to form the bud, notch the tips and glue in place
• Step 7 : Skewer the chopstick through the centre of the blooms and tap down with floral tape

Edit to add :- here’s how they look bunched together! A cost free upcycled project. Use old magazines, newspapers (unwanted books) or papers for the flowers. ‘Vase’ is an old reed diffuser that’s emptied out.

Have you gotten used to the fact that it is already 2012? I haven’t. Well, in a way I have. The days have whizzed by, longer than ever and packed to the brim. The children are somewhat settled in school and have fallen into a routine of rousing early and sleeping slightly earlier. School is still pretty much a hit and miss around here. We have our good days and bad. But then, that’s life.

I’ve managed to sneak some time for a couple of new items. Pieces that are perfect for Valentine’s. Yes, it is coming! Do get your orders in early to accommodate the public holidays and postal rush. We definitely do not want to disappoint anyone.

Blessed Christmas everyone!

Things have been quieter around here since Christmas rolled along. We have been enjoying the time off work and spending it with family. We have feasted and feasted and feasted. I think we are just about done with celebrations. We have got a whole series of gatherings lined up till the new year and have been enjoying each session with relish. Always good to meet with old friends (and new).

We’ve also been prepping for a whole new series to launch come January (*gulp* just a couple more days!). We have acquired a new metal stamp set and are totally in love with the whimsical font! I’ve been stamping anything and everything. And must say, I am rather pleased with the results.

Lil charmers of dainty clouds in both silver and gold plating are coming your way. Great as a personalised add-on tag or match it with other pendant drops. Great fun. A lovely personalised touch that’s awesome for Valentine’s, anniversaries or birthdays, heck, all year round.

A Sentimental Note

I don’t know about you but I’m entering November with a sense of shock and thankfulness. It feels as if the year has sped on by and the past 10 months have come and gone in a flash. Yet on the other hand, the thought of Christmas is particularly heartening.

We have had a whirlwind mad October with highlights being of some changes being up in the air for the coming year. More on that soon.

This week, we managed to launch a small simple sweet elegant collection. A nice touch for the season, a great gift for the ones you hold dear.

Really want to thank our lovely customers who were so amazingly patient. Our whole family was down with a bad bout of stomach flu. We spent the whole week dealing with poop and puke, and generally could not hold our foods in. I took quite a while on some orders, far beyond our typical 3 days turnaround.
