only a flower of sadness and Hope for Mianmar

It has been a long day prepping for a trip up North to attend a wake. We are heading out later today and will return by Friday or latest, Saturday. All orders paid for have been completed and packed, ready to be shipped in the morning. Most, if not all, correspondence has been answered.

For everything else, I seek your understanding to wait till the weekend.

I may or may not have internet access. It is a connected world we live in after all. But still, there is much to do on the personal front.

The shop will remain open but shipping will only resume on Monday. For now, adieu. And don’t forget to give your loved ones a great big hug.

I spotted this on Sarah Jane Studio’s blog and totally hearted it. It really sums up all the mixed emotions that go into setting up a business. What I love about Sarah Jane (besides her awesome drawings!) is that she too is a mother and reading her posts lends a sense of camaraderie. If you are a mother struggling with young children and trying to balance your art, family and business, the post and the comments section is a worthy read. If nothing else, it helps affirm that you are not alone.

Sparkle Thots Jewellery :: Bluebells (Bracelet)

Bluebells ~ A Lil Something Blue

It is insane but I finally had the time to list the above bracelet in store. You first caught a glimpse of it a couple of weeks back when I did a floral Monday feature on all blue flowers. Obviously the infatuation with the blue flowers has not left. The whole idea of Bluebells came to mind when I did the product listing and naming. And so.., another floral Monday dedicated to blue.

Spanish Bluebell

~~"O, that lone flower recalled to me - My happy childhood's hours - When bluebells seemed like fairy gifts - A prize among the flowers"~~

Bluebells (Hyacinthoides non-scripta)

I’d admit that living so near the equator, I have not the faintest clue of how the flower actually looks like. Of course I have a romanticised notion of what they ought to be from all the books I’ve read, but seen one, never. I must say, the real flower fits perfectly. A drooping, shy little flower, full of grace and meekness.

Pretty. Especially when you stumble upon fields of them. Move over fields of gold!

Aren’t they perfectly dreamy? I’d love to idle in such a beautiful field all weekend long. Without a care in the world. Maybe, someday. But for the now, happy Monday. It is the start of a new school term over here in sunny Singapore. The last quarter of 2010! Time… does indeed, fly.

Christmas Selections

Shop Early For Christmas ~ Christmas Selections by Sparkle Thots

So much to do, so little time! Its less than 15 weeks down to Christmas. Minus off the shipping times (which can get real crazy in the lead up) and you have even less time to shop for everyone on your ‘nice’ list. So why not start your Christmas shopping early this year? Shop from our selections by 31st October and you enjoy a lower price on your items. Purchase 5 or more items and you get a further price break.

Surely that is incentive enough for you to start your engines?

I’m still updating the section but it is filling up nicely. Brides, (especially fall brides!) you can also make use of the bulk quantity price break to get something special for your bridal party. Customise the necklaces with their respective birthstones or in your wedding colours. Contact me for details!

** On a down note : Baby K is sick right now. :( Orders might be delayed by 1-2 working days depending on how fast she recovers.

It has been a silly weekend on the blogfront. Amusing and disappointing at the same time. It just culminated in a case of finger-pointing and supposed victimisation. On this note, I figured I’d like for this Floral Monday’s flowers to be something pure and simple, unobtrusive and beautiful. I really need to clear my mind of all the negativity going around. And to begin to focus on Christmas.

Spending the day out with the children helped. At least, no lies there. Instead, genuine smiles. Yes, biased mum talking here. You don’t have to remind me that I’m forgetting the difficult times in raising toddlers. They mature fast nowadays. Becoming little adults in the way they talk and act. So a delicate balance of what to teach, how to teach has to come into place.

Ok, too many words. On to the beauty of the humble Baby’s Breath. A ‘filler’ of sorts yet oh so dreamy. Happy Monday!

Sparkle Thots Jewellery :: Super Everyday in Silver (Necklace)

Becoming Superwoman!

Time sure has a way of creeping up on you. There has been an influx of orders in August (am not complaining!) and it has kept me really busy. Especially for the last couple of days. I’m really glad to see the last of the paid orders packed and ready to ship tomorrow (ok, a couple more hours) but now, my idle hands feel strange. So send the orders in. :P

Sparkle Thots Jewellery

My worktable looks like a huge mess right now with supplies strewn all over as I alternated between completing orders and being overwhelmed by the creative muse. The stash has been restocked with goodies and I hope to release them soon. They are going to be just great for weddings and for Christmas. Yes, Christmas. Can’t believe it is but 16 weeks till then. Didn’t we just usher in the new year?!

Pine — Longing For Winter

Ah well. I really got to get myself to sleep right now before the new day dawns and my two rested kiddos kill me with their boundless energy. I haven’t had time to edit the SALE listings in Etsy so if you had your eye on something in that section, you got a couple more hours to grab it. Also, the charming pinecone necklace is back in stock. Might as well get a headstart on your Christmas shopping eh?

** Stock is running real low on the Super necklace. The gold version has completely sold out. So grab the silver ones whilst you can.
