Unless you have been living under a rock, you’d have spotted MT tapes selling everywhere. Or at least any good reputable stationery store. Ok, maybe I kid but really, they seem to be everywhere. And me, being me, I got caught up in the craze a long time back. I even got myself a set of 10 (and then some). I’m running out of my favourites, and I actually worked my way through 5 rolls already (15m x 5… woah!). So as I keep an eye out for restocks, here are a couple of my favourites.

Are you tempted? I find that these are a quick easy way to add colour to any package. Not to mention, the possibilities are … endless.

Sparkle Thots Jewellery :: Wishes -- Thousand Origami Cranes (Earrings)

Been feeling out of whack these couple of weeks. Like life is just FLYING by and that time is moving too fast. A heady mix of parenthood and business, and a couple of other things. Well, you know, life. My once tidy worktable is looking like hurricane R just swept through it. Well, yeah. I guess it did. Anyhow, enough about that. I didn’t quite manage to get down to listing all the items I had featured in the previous Working Wednesday post but I did twirl up a couple of others that are in store.

Pictured above is Wishes — Thousand Origami Cranes.

❤ Purple — Enchanting Tulips

These remind me of Fall. A time of changing seasons as the climate moves from the warm to the cool. Of the start of festivities as we wind down as the school year ends and a time of celebrations as Christmas rolls on by. I see them paired with everyday clothes for just that bit of sparkle. :)

I promise to have more in store soon. Meantime, in other Sparkle Thots‘ news… we took part in Bloomize new series of What Travels With You. Hop on over to check out what made it to our essential for travel list.

Well, apparently this week is kind of abnormal. After yesterday‘s slightly abnormal Floral Monday, today’s quote is more a quirky mind map to choosing a typeface. Lots of fun but don’t be offended if your favourite font is not listed. There are way too many after all.

So who needs a little help with choosing fonts today?

Once upon a time, I was a science student. Once upon a time, test tubes were standard equipment in science class. Be it for Chemistry or Biology. They used to be filled with coloured chemicals, held over bunsen burners and stood in their well stained wooden racks as we conducted our experiments. And at the end of the lab sessions, unceremoniously scrubbed with tiny brushes.

Nowadays, they are the new vases. I spotted them around the place and when I saw them on Urban Outfitters, that sealed the deal. The forgotten science student merged with the artsy side of me, and I went on a hunt for more floral beauty. In a tube.

Flowers in the Window

I’m inspired to dig up the old test tubes. They should see some action!

New series! I’m on a roll :D

Just how many ways can we say “Love”? This weekly feature will centre on the word Love and the many many pictures it appears in. Not just the general sense of the feeling but the word spelled in full. Because, sometimes, we need a reminder that indeed, love is all around.

And to kick off the weekly feature, here’s a lovely print by Irene Suchocki, titled All is Love.

Happy Friday!

VITRINE DE HOJE !!!

The popular definition of vintage is anything more than 20 years of age. Which kind of means that I am vintage (gee, what a comforting thought) and the things I grew up with all fall into that particular category. I, however, tend to stereotype vintage as victorian. The era of tea sipping, waltz and gorgeous lace detailing. The obviously romanticised notion of course but, THAT, to me, is vintage. Still, humour me and join me on this make-believe somewhat vintage wedding.

Vintage Wedding

Wearing my mother's dress

40 working buttons

The lovely bride wore her mother’s wedding gown. And sewed in two labels to commemorate the two occasions the dress was worn. I love the sentiments behind it don’t you? Not to mention the amazing detailing of the dress. *swoon*

And this one’s actually for sale at Etsy.

Details

** What really got me started on the vintage wedding hunt was this gown of Josephine‘s. It was breathtakingly beautiful (in my opinion at least, and I’m sure, hers) and it refused to leave my thoughts alone. I was captivated and there was no turning back. Silly I guess, but after having held my own wedding more than 5 years ago, I was going through her blog with relish.

I love what she did with her wedding. The details were a mix of traditions, East meets West style. And what really made it tops in my books was that she was Singaporean (holding her ROM in Singapore and church wedding in Malaysia) and yet the details were so so so beautiful. Her gown is vintage inspired, not vintage, because in her own words, I love vintage but I’m not built to fit into a gown for a 5’2 willow stem with an 18 inch waist. I think we all can identify with that! So do spend some time and hop on over to her blog for more wedding talk. Local brides would totally benefit from the extensive details she shares.

I’ve had the honour of working with a number of brides in preparing accessories that will suit them, their entourage and their colour theme for the big day. I am always tickled pink with the delight that these lovely ladies trust me enough to let me craft items that will feature in the momentous occasion. And I love to craft new jewelry with the blushing bride in mind. I am afterall, a closet romantic.

Here are some pieces selected for special mention.

For the bridesmaids :

Sparkle Thots Jewellery :: Paris (Earrings)

Most of these are in stock. If they aren’t available at the shop, drop me a note (or leave me a comment) and I’d get back to you as soon as I can. And yes, the majority have been used in lovely custom wedding related orders.

Sparkle Thots Jewellery :: Packaging

Still whatever you choose, just be sure it comes from the heart. :) And yes, wherever possible, our gifts come packaged as such, even with a handwritten note on your behalf.

** The title picture is that of a set of bracelets customised for a beach wedding. All the bridesmaids got identical bracelets which suited the theme in both colour and well, charm.

I like. Found via Etsy Finds email and sold just as fast. I’m not quite sure whether it is a ‘new’ plate or a vintage one but with such quirky wordings, who really cares?

Sparkle Thots Jewellery :: (Rings)

A little ironic to be updating about a new weekly feature on the ‘wrong’ day. I have been attempting to update the blog on a daily basis and trying to keep Wednesdays for shop updates. Since I missed last week’s, and boy, was that supposed to have been a big update, I figured I’d just break tradition and blog anyway. Because, well, I can. My blog after all (and many many thanks for reading!)

Anyway, to cut the long story short, these are the goodies that will be making their way to the shop soon. All very signature “Sparkle Thots” in my opinion. The first piece, Bouquet — Fresh Flowers A-Blooming is already in store.

** I admit that it is rather strange that I’m returning to Etsy again after coming full circle. I started an (a buyer’s) account back in 2005 when it was in its infancy, deleted it and then went to sign up for a seller’s account in 2007. I then went on to build my own website and mess with them codes. Right now, oddly, I find that Etsy is easier all over again. Don’t ask how my brain works. Must be all twisted from twirling wires.

Back from the rushed trip and still recovering for the whirlwind that we found ourselves in. Almost done with the backlog and had some retail therapy (all online) to make the day better. Things are almost back to normal right now. I really need to up my energy level right now. Oh so very tired.

Queen Anne's Lace

For this week’s little perk me up, I found Christmas Lace, or more accurately, Queen Anne’s Lace. I love how delicately sweet the white lil buds are and hope they bring some cheer to your week.

Queen Anne's Lace Field

I love how dreamy they look all clustered in the field. A beautiful natural lace decoration!
