big box vs handmade

big box: batik print scarf from Banana Republic- imported, 100% cotton- $49
handmade: purple grey scrolls scarf by Margot Bianca- hand dyed & batiked, 100% silk- $45
A couple of days ago, Jena of Modish ran a really cool feature on big box vs handmade with case in point of scarves. What really got me was that handmade really beat the big brands hands down. After having started my own jewelry site, I have made out a small Indie treat each month for myself. As a form of reward.
I am convinced that the indie sellers really put an insane amount of effort into making everything beautiful so having this feature was proof that I was not hallucinating. Sweet!
