I recall having first chanced upon Ling Glass about 2 years ago. Then Etsy was a pretty new site and she happened to be one of the featured sellers. I remember feeling proud that a Singaporean was being featured! 2 years on, she is still on Etsy… and my, has her range has expanded.

But for me, oldies are still goldies. Perhaps with the exception of the 2-in-1 wealth and luck pendants that is. Her unique blend of the traditional red packets, fused between glass sheets gives them a longer lasting existence. And stops them from simply becoming trash once the monies within have been spent.

Other noteworthy variations include pressed flowers, antiqued finished frames and postage stamps. Do take a look!

A quick sneak…

Pardon this plug for Sparkle Thots… but there’s a new range to be launched soon. Surf the site and check out the new offerings. All to be uploaded by the end of the day.

This series features clean lines for great silhouettes. Nothing to distract but the beauty of the materials used. Accentuate. Not overdose.

Honey Drops centres on three well cut, faceted glass briolettes interpersed with faceted gold plated beads as its focal piece. Uncluttered and sitting central from gold plated chains, the three honey glass drops catch the light and your eye as they rest on your collarbone. Closed with gold plated lobster clasp. Necklace length can be customised. Just email me for more details.

Honey Drops and other such silhouettes will go on sale shortly. This piece retails for SGD 30. Comes packaged in organza pouch with free handmade gift card, ideal for gift giving or for rewarding yourself. Sent in bubble lined envelopes to prevent damage during shipping (additional SGD 3.50, registered post). Or opt for self collect / meet up.

Hot on the heels of the edible cupcakes come these handcrafted ones. Definitely inedible but made for long lasting enjoyment.

Handmade by Sue-Ann and Denise, this site features delectable wearable goodies that are 100% eye candy and 0% calories. :) Get some today and satisfy your cravings for wearable art.

By now you would have noticed the animated gif at side for a while… :) Time to talk more about it. Heh.

Mong’s a friend whom I met online and who does wonderful works of edible creations on cupcakes, cakes and other such yummy goodies. Having just finished a course at Wilton’s, she is back and raring to show her skills. Contact her for more details on your offerings. Psst… she does cupcake parties too! And super cute themed birthday cakes.

To the start the series off… comes Dotted Line by Dorothy. Having given up a career in business for what she terms as a tape measure and fabric hunts, she has been constantly turning out limited editions, exclusive goodies by hand. Sewing up dresses, blouses, bags and such girl-y delights, she has certainly made the right call.

Find her online or at various shops carrying her line, dotted across this lil red dot (check site for more details).

psst… Just so you know, this is my personal fave. But obviously, I was a tad too late. Its already been sold!

With the local SG airwaves starting on the national, patriotic songs, the faint colours of fireworks lighting up the sky, I figure it is time to pay tribute to the tiny red dot I call home. Even as youths tend towards the masses and may become fashion slaves, there is a huge treasure trove of Singaporean born and bred designers who are full of creativity that it simply takes your breath away to think “WOW, made in Singapore!”.

One of the best places (physical store that is…) to scour for such finds is of course, Maad. Singapore’s own Market of Artists and Designers. Simply put, it is the place I hope to be… Someday.

Meantime, I shall be content with my lil corner of the web… though it would be inspirational and heartening if you are able to spare the time and drop by the Red Dot Museum every first weekend of the month from 11am to 7pm . Go on, spur creativity in Singapore. And buy something while you are there! The next one session is on 4 and 5 Aug.

Art Nouveau coasters for the table are so pretty that I am tempted to leave my cups on the table just so that I can admire them instead. These 6 coasters feature different classic art nouveau designs and come packaged in their own matching tin, ready for use out of box, or great as gifts.

Not keen on this style (how can it possibly be?!), choose from other available designs or better yet, create your own unique set!

First spotted on Indie Quarter’s blog, Annie Yu’s collaging / scrapbooking intrigues. She takes the art of collaging and scrapbooking beyond the typical, exploring and pushing boundaries to create interesting works of art. And all have a story to tell. Especially noteworthy, check out her personal “nonsensical” zines (in store, where she writes about family and other personal details) and her daily art journal (gorgeous altered tins).

Serene’s Boutique brings retro back into modern day life with such beauties! Surfing through, I fell in love with these faves… While I am definitely not from the “retro-age”, I sure would not mind wearing these. The varied prints, boho cuts, ribbon waisted dresses, they are oh so cool! I am thinking of Saturday Night Fever.

Back again to bags, Georgia Hadley of August Lately is definitely one of them sites to keep an eye out for. Her lovingly made bags, pouches and other assorted items speak of simple chic. The greatest thing about her? She allows for custom designing of bags / pouches! Check out her large selection of fabrics to choose from.

Also as loved are the matching pocket mirrors for those who love everything coordinated.
